        • Ministry of Mass Media and Information Master Plan of the Proposed Tele-Cine Project Ranmihithenna, Hambantota - Ministry of Mass Media and Communication / Asia Foundation / World Vision

          Financial and institutional sustainability including provision of business management and financial models, and institutional sustainability plan. This concept document presents a plan for the establishment of a Film and Television Studio Complex in the Hambantota District of Sri Lanka. Telecity will cater to both production and post-production stages of films. At present, there is no central location in the country which offers the variety of services and spaces, including permanent film sets and facades, required for film and television production.

        • Development of Technical Case Study on Solid Waste Management Project in Ambalangoda

          The Asia Foundation (TAF), under its Local Economic Governance (LEG) Project has supported Ambalangoda Urban Council (AUC) to implement a solid waste management programme through a grant worth of Rupees Five Hundred Thousand. AUC has implemented a pilot solid waste management programme in one of the wards in the UC area and achieved multiple benefits including better solid waste management services to the citizen in that area.

          A technical case study using the key findings identified was prepared by DC encouraging other LAs to implement similar activities to provide better SWM services and share the financial and other benefits. Case study includes key factors for the success of the project, financial analysis of the benefits, Recommendations for improvement, cost analysis, and guidelines for replication for other LAs.



      • Conducting an audit of the accounting system

        • Conducting an audit of the accounting system - International Construction Consortium Ltd

          Carried out an audit of the accounting system of International Construction Consortium (ICC) Ltd. Identified the current procedures and internal controls relating to the accounting system, Evaluated the procedures of the accounting system, conducted test check of a randomly selected cases, identified the weaknesses of the sample test runs and made appropriate recommendations.

        • Integrated Dairy Industry Development - Feasibility Study Jugas Agro industries (Pvt) Ltd

          A Feasibility study carried in order to assess the financial viability of setting up of a milk processing facility at Eravur Pattu, in Batticaloa district. The feasibility study report was to be presented to a bank to obtain funds required for the project. Services provided include analysis of the cost of the total project, assessing the technical feasibility and market feasibility of the project, developing the project implementation plan considering the project activities, feasibility study carried out by providing a forecasted financial statements and a ratio analysis.



      • Eco Apparels (Pvt) Ltd

        • Feasibility study carried in order to assess the financial viability of an expansion of production facilities of Eco Apparels (Pvt) Ltd factory at Mawathagama and changing the product mix in Galgamuwa to meet the increased demand of the buyers. Another feasibility study carried to assess the financial viability of restarting operations of Mandarin Garments (Pvt) Ltd in Vavuniya, which is currently not in operation. This also planned to enhance the capacity of the production facility by introducing additional machinery and equipment.



      • Sustainable Timber Farm Pre feasibility study - Re Greening Lanka ( Pvt ) Ltd

        • Re-Greening Lanka Private Ltd plans to convert an unproductive degraded land comprising of thorn scrub jungle in the dry zone area of Sri Lanka (Puttalam District) in to a sustainable timber farm which at the end of the selective harvesting cycle will be upgraded into a natural forest cover. The establishment of a forest cover has been recommended by the Mahaweli Authority in protecting the environment and bio diversity in the Kalaoya river basin. This will give a solution to the future requirement of hard wood timber in the country whilst increasing the countries forest cover. The feasibility study report was prepared to present to an African investor in order to obtain funds required for the project. Total capital infusion required for the project is US$ 82 million.



      • Monaragala Rubber Plantation Pre Feasibility Study

        • The overall objective of the company is to invest in green business opportunities at the community level in Monaragala.The aim is to create an environment that enables local people to actively participate in an array of climate change mitigation projects- compensating for GHG emissions through the planting of rubber trees and other relevant organic food crops, complimented by renewable energy to support sustainable organic agriculture and forestry. A Pre Feasibility study carried out in order to assess the financial viability of a rubber plantation project. The feasibility study report was prepared to present to an African investor in order to obtain funds required for the project.



      • Dendro Power Generation Pre Feasibility Study - Islandwide Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd

        • A Pre Feasibility study carried out in order to assess the financial viability of a Dendro power generation project. Project objective is to generate power (electricity) from sustainably grown biomass (fuel wood). The feasibility study report was prepared to present it to a UK investor to obtain required funds for the project.



      • Sugar Cane Pre Feasibility Study- Islandwide Marketing Services (Pvt) Ltd

        • The project is to operate a sugar production company, which involves in Sugar Production, Ethanol (fuel) Production (through the byproduct ethanol from sugar production), and Power Generation (though bagases from sugar production). To assess the financial feasibility of the project a pre feasibility study was carried out. Preparation of forecasted financial statements, Identification of the Project IRR, and NPV, and analysis of the projected inancial statements was carried out.



      • Disposal of waste oil and other waste from the ships

        • Preparation of proposal to finance, design, build, operate & maintain a facility for disposal of waste oil and other waste from the ships - Holcim Lanka Pvt Limited

          Development of a pricing formula for Holcim, to determine the best price to purchase waste oil and other waste from ships reaching Colombo harbour. Detailed process, operating costs, investment required was studied in developing the pricing formula.



      • Calculation of Carbon Footprint

        • Calculated Carbon Footprint in association with EML Consultants (Pvt) Ltd for both Commercial Bank PLC & Diesel Motor Engineering PLC. to be published in the annual report of each company. This Involves identification of the sources of emissions, defining the project boundary, calculation of carbon footprint, advise to improve recording systems, awareness building, staff training, and guidance to develop a base year.



      • Valuation of Shares

        • Conducted share valuations of several businesses. These valuation were done mainly for the purposes of sale /acquisitions of businesses and facilitating transfer of shares among shareholders and /or buy back of shares by the company. The necessary legal documentation for transaction was also developed as part of the company's services.



      • Ex -Post review of Procurement Audit

        • Ex -Post review of Procurement Audit - Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA)

          According to the Project Appraisal Document and as agreed by Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka and the International Development Association (The World Bank) financing the project, An independent ex-post procurement audit was carried out by DC for all procurement carried out under the ICTA for each year. This is to check whether contracts awarded are under procedures given in the World Bank's Procurement Guidelines.

        • Evaluation of E-Friends and the study of feasibility of introducing CDM assistance to current E-Friends II scheme - Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)

          Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has been providing a low interest loan scheme through the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) to promote environmentally friendly technology implementation in industries. This project was conducted to evaluate the status of the loan scheme and its performance and the possibility of promoting CDM activities through the loan scheme.

        • Intervention Report Good Working Practices in Coir Mills - Enter Growth International Labour Organisation

          The Enterprise Development for Pro-poor Growth project of the International Labour Organization supports the implementation of the Government of Sri Lankas strategy for poverty reduction and the generation of quality employment for women and men through an integrated micro and small enterprise development program targeting in particular the districts of Kurunegala, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura and Puttalam. Enter-Growth has supported the conduct of a value chain development program in the coir sector. Under this program, Enter-Growth together with the Industrial Development Board (IDB) and the Industrial Service Bureau (ISB) in Kurunegala conducted a value chain analysis in the coir sector.

        • Assessing the impact of forum theatre performances to promote enterprise culture - Enter Growth Project

          EG plans to use the medium of forum theatre to change the attitudes of the people about doing business and to develop an entrepreneurship culture among the village community in Sri Lanka. This forum theatre provides the audience a participatory theatre experience where people could experience for themselves alternative courses of actions they could take in order to avoid undesirable situations and develop themselves to become entrepreneurs in the area. To conduct a quasi-experimental study to assess the effect of forum theatre events on perceptions of enterprise.

        • Research on selected Small Business Associations functioning in Sri Lanka - International Labour Organisation Enter Growth Project

          The overall objective of this assignment was to do a research, collect information and document as to how welfare and village based organizations evolved and acquired the roles and responsibilities of small business associations. The project was carried out in two parts. The first part provides the results of a literature review covering the following areas: The main welfare and village based organizations in Sri Lanka facilitating the role of SBA. Main features of these SBAs, how they operate and how well they are spread country wide The second part provides details of the results of the survey carried out among such village based organization providing business services.

          This project mainly conducted in four Districts in Sri Lanka: Kurunegala, Puttalam, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa The main objective of the survey was to study and identify the Demand for the Business Development Services (BDS), create an interaction between BDS& Medium and Small Enterprises (MSEs) which results in better market for BDS, Promote an enterprise culture among the communities and authorities, Create business opportunities for potential and existing MSEs (Identification of new business ideas, expansion and improvement opportunities), and Promote MSE forum of the four districts. Also this survey was carried out to find out any of improvements to be made for the similar business fairs in the future.



      • Review of the impact of labour laws and business environment on MSEs in Sri Lanka

        • Review of the impact of labour laws and business environment on MSEs in Sri Lanka - International Labour Organisation

          This study was conducted on behalf of the International Labour Organization (ILO) with the objective of developing, with its constituents, a better understanding of the factors that can aid or inhibit the growth, the quality of jobs and employment creation of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in South Asia. DC carried out the country review on the Impact of Labour Laws and the Business Environment on MSEs in Sri Lanka. Similarly, country reviews of Nepal, Bangladesh and India was done for comparative analysis. The objectives of the study were to research and find answers to the impact of labour laws in the context of the overall business environment, if any, on the size profile of enterprises in Sri Lanka, determine whether an MSE labour law growth trap exists and -whether enterprises tend not to grow in a normal manner to avoid compliance with laws at the above the threshold, whether it is mostly the labour laws (or labour-related laws) that create the perceived growth trap, practices that enterprises undertake to avoid labour laws. State-level data on the nature of these practices, Investigate changes, if any, to labour law and the impact that this had on MSEs, including the level of employment and the nature of the employment relationship.
